More responsive scientifically literate students can promote broader participation in knowledgebased innovation to meet the highest ethical standards and they can help to ensure sustainable societies in the future. Scientific Literacy and Sense of Responsibility are two important traits in school students that need to be nurtured. In such premise the present investigation was undertaken in order to study the relationship between Scientific Literacy and Sense of Responsibility among higher secondary students of the science and arts stream. 120 students of class 11th and 12th of Varanasi city were selected by cluster random sampling technique. The Findings of the study revealed that stream of study influences the scientific literacy and sense of responsibility of higher secondary students and there is a positive relationship between scientific literacy and sense of responsibility. Scientific literacy of higher secondary science stream students was better than arts stream and sense of responsibility of higher secondary science stream students are better than arts stream students. This means students who show the feeling of responsibility towards and about science, necessarily have better scientific literacy.
